Musement, a digital platform for booking travel activities around the world, has recently welcomed Alka Carter-Manning to its international team. As Global Account Director, she will oversee relationships with the company’s strategic global operators, in order to further develop synergies within Musement/TUI DX.
“We're very pleased to have Alka joining our team. With her experience and insight in the tours and activities field, we're sure she'll prove invaluable as we work towards Musement's continued growth in the market,“ Claudio Bellinzona, Co-founder and COO of Musement commented.
Carter-Manning comes to Musement after 6 years at Big Bus Tours, the world’s largest privately-owned operator of open-top sightseeing tours. Her roles here included Head of International Marketing, progressing to Head of Global Partnership Management. During her time at the company she rebranded the global and individual operations in all cities worldwide, initiated the company’s largest OTA accounts and rolled out marketing campaigns and partnerships to support the launch of key cities, including New York. Carter-Manning also led the creative direction, sponsorships and press coverage for all global trade shows, as well as being a key spokesperson across B2B media. Prior to her tenure at Big Bus Tours, Alka was the Sales and Marketing Director at London’s well-known museum of oddities, Ripley’s Believe It or Not!.
Carter-Manning stated: “I am thrilled to be joining Musement at a pivotal time for the company as it expands under TUI. Traveler habits are adapting to include a deeper experience of local cultures and adventures, with the role of tours and attractions being key to delivering multi-experiences. Through developing partnerships across the globe, Musement’s offerings can grow to satisfy all traveler demographics, with multiple channels to ensure a smooth consumer journey.”
Launched in Milan in 2013, Musement allows users to get the most out of their travel destinations by providing them with a diverse selection of tours and attractions. Unlike most travel platforms, Musement's content and booking options span multiple verticals - from guided tours and museums to food and wine tastings - across numerous touch-points such as the B2C Musement and Triposo websites and apps, and the joint B2B APIs. Since Musement was acquired by TUI Group in 2018, it has focused on a major expansion of its team.
Musement is the digital platform that allows you to book travel activities in over 1,000 destinations and 70 countries around the world. The service was created to help travelers discover and book things to do – from museum visits to city tours, food and wine tastings, sports events and wellness activities – wherever they go, with the goal of enriching their travel experience. The service is available in 8 languages through various digital touchpoints: the B2C websites and apps with the Musement and Triposo brands; the platform for travel agencies; while platforms and integrations have been carried out with countless online distribution partners, from Google to hotels.com.
Musement is headquartered in Milan and has offices in Hamburg, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Dubai, London, Monaco, New York, Orlando and Paris. The company has been certified as a Great Place To Work® and in 2018 was listed in the top 20 Best Workplaces® in Italy. In September of the same year, Musement became part of the German group TUI, the largest integrated tourism operator in the world. Following its acquisition, Musement has remained an independent company in the TUI Destination Experiences division (TUI DX). The collaboration and integration between the two companies has already brought significant benefits to both and a strong growth in combined turnover, which in the last year reached 600 million euros.
